I've drawn Eddy before for a trade with Justin Gammon, of Weirdo Toys fame, but I wanted to do something different for this card. The cool thing about Eddy is that he was always portrayed in an "insert Eddy here" sort of way. What I mean is that Eddy could be portrayed as a cyborg, a zombie, a puppet master, a prisoner, a soldier... just about any number of scenarios could play out and it worked.
Well, for this version, I thought it would be cool to see what he might look like if he happened to pick up Thor's Uru Hammer, Mjolnir. I thought it might fit, since a lot of the Iron Maiden art out there has Eddy interacting with lightning, or electricity.
On the last card I did for Chris, I used dip pens only, so for this card I wanted to ink it strictly with a brush. I didn't want to over hatch this little piece of art because I wanted to finish it off with a bit of color (my first color ATC trade... YAY!), but Eddy's face has so many creases, and so much texture, that it's hard to resist some hatch work.
All-in-all, it was a fun piece to work on. Since I've used two different inking methods for the first two cards in Chris's set, I think I'll try to shift gears for the last card as well.
As always, thanks for stopping by, reading my words, and looking at my art. I appreciate your time and your comments.
