A "Solar" Powered ATC Sketch (trust me... I'm a Doctor)

When I was in high school I went to a garage sale and picked up some old comics for a couple of bucks. One of them had an indian fighting a pterodactyl on the cover (who I later learned was Turok) and the other was this weird looking guy in a solid red suit. He had green skin, a visor (like Cyclops from the X-Men), a radiation symbol on his chest, and energy coming from his fingers. His name was "Doctor Solar," one of many characters in a comic book line titled "Gold Key." I picked those books up mainly because the characters looked cool. They had a unique, simple style, and more than Turok, Doctor Solar peaked my curiosity. Years later the character was bought by Valiant comics (although they opted to lose the green skin... which I think should have stayed), and I see that the character is once again being brought to life by Jim Shooter. My buddy Darren used some of the classic Gold Key characters for his ATC sketches at Artfix Noctum this past weekend, and it got me thinking about the good Doctor, once again.

I had 15 minutes to kill at lunch and I whipped up a quick ATC sketch based on the cover of the comic I picked up all those years ago. It's nothing fancy, but I had a creative Solar itch I needed to scratch, and this little card did the trick. It was a quick one, but I dig it, so I hope you do too.
